With the introduction of technology and the internet, the way people communicate has undergone a transformation. Nowhere is this more evident than in the speech of teenagers, which often leaves adults feeling like they\u2019re missing something to understand. But teenagers having their own language is nothing new, for example in the 1950s-1960s some commonly used words by teens were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1: Groovy (awesome\/cool) Ex: \u201cThat beat is groovy!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 2: Rad (great\/excellent) Ex: \u201cThat party was totally rad!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 3: Bread (money) Ex: \u201cWhere did you get all that bread?\u201d \u201cMy new job\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 4: Goat (greatest of all time) Ex: \u201cThat guy is so good at football!\u201d \u201cHe\u2019s the goat.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 5: Bookin (going fast) Ex: \u201cThat guy is bookin it down the street!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Here is an example of 20 commonly used words by teenagers today:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 1: BRB (be right back) Ex: \u201cI\u2019m going to go jump off a cliff, brb.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 2: LOL (laugh out loud) Ex: \u201cLOL that video is so funny!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 3: OMG (oh my gosh) Ex: \u201cOMG that cliff is so high.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 4: OMW (on my way) Ex: \u201cSounds good I\u2019m OMW.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5: Savage (crazy) Ex: \u201cYou\u2019re a savage for jumping off that cliff!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 6: Cap (not true) Ex: \u201cI jumped off a cliff with no parachute.\u201d \u201cYea that\u2019s cap.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 7: Bet (let\u2019s do it) Ex: \u201cLet\u2019s go jump off a cliff with no parachute.\u201d \u201cBet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 8: Bruh (bro what?)
