The Ponte Vedra High School Sharks girls\u2019 soccer team took the two-and-a-half-hour bus ride down to Montverde Academy on Friday Jan 17. The Montverde Academy eagles came into this matchup with a 14-0 record so this was going to be a tall task for the Sharks. The Sharks didn\u2019t get off to a good start as the Eagles took an early 1-0 lead. Nothing was going the Sharks way in the first half as the Eagles added another goal giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead heading into the half. The Sharks needed to mount a huge comeback to keep their win streak alive. Junior forward, Lily Morse was able to get the Sharks back in the game scoring a goal in the second half, bringing the Sharks within one goal. But then the Eagles took over from there scoring two more goals to close out the game. The Sharks fall 4-1 to the Eagles and pick up their second loss of the season, moving their record to 10-2-2 on the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTreat every game like we have a 0-0 record and to focus on the job at hand.”<\/p>Team Motto<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n The following day the Sharks looked to bounce back and get in the win column as they took on North Fort Myers High School. A key to this game for the Sharks was to get a lead early and have a major output on offense. Unfortunately for the Sharks got off to another slow start as the Red Knights took an early 1-0 lead. Nothing turned in the Sharks favor as the red Knights added another goal making it 2-0 at the half. The Sharks needed to make a big push to comeback in this game after the half. But the Red Knights were too much for the Sharks as they added two more goals and moved to final score 4-0. The Sharks have now accumulated 2 straight losses and their record falls to 10-3-2 on the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Sharks will look to turn things around and avenge their two straight losses in the upcoming district tournament.
