The Media Center has long been a place where\none can check out books, use the computers, and talk with your friends. In\naddition, it has also been an environment that encourages students to try new\nand creative things they wouldn\u2019t try elsewhere, whether that be for a class,\nor for their own personal growth and enjoyment. The newest addition to the wide\nvariety of opportunities available in the media center is Studio, possibly the\nroom filled with the most possibilities in the entire school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI gave this space to the students to do\nnew, innovative, creative stuff,\u201d explained Mr. Richards, Ponte Vedra High\nSchool Media Specialist, on why he transformed his office into something\neveryone could use. Studio is a room in the PVHS Media Center that\u2019s meant to\nfacilitate the school\u2019s student population in their creative and scholarly\nendeavors. The soundproof room is perfect for doing group projects with your\nfriends in a quiet environment at school, without the burden of having to find\none or setting up a time and place that works for everyone outside of school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou can record podcasts, you can record\nvideo[s],\u201d continued Mr. Richards, since Studio is decked out with an iMac\nfilled with all types of editing software, a greenscreen, lighting, a\nstudio-quality microphone, and will soon have mobile padcasters that transform\nyour phone into a camera. Students have already recorded musical arrangements\nin the room, and even used its VR system to compose digital works of art and\nexplore new places virtually. If you have to make a project for a class, you\ncan try making \u201csomething creative\u2026 that goes above and beyond\u201d what your\nteachers are expecting you to accomplish, but with less difficulty than if you\ntried doing the same thing at home or elsewhere at school. You can even reserve\nthe room to make sure you have access to it when you want it by simply filling\nout an online form on the PVHS website and showing up at the chosen time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Studio \u201cbring[s] in modern tech\u201d so that\nPVHS students can do \u201ccool, creative stuff\u201d like recording podcasts or music,\nusing VR to create otherwise impossible experiences, filming studio-grade\nfilms, or even just working diligently on a project with your friends, all\nwithin the comfort and convenience of your own school. There are countless\npossibilities for what can be done in Studio, and it\u2019s a great opportunity to\ntry new things that you wouldn\u2019t try elsewhere.
