Senior, Storm Lickliter started on the mound for the Sharks. The offense remained in a stalemate for both teams until the bottom of the third inning, where the Sharks found their spark. Storm Lickliter singled for an RBI, followed by sophomore shortstop, Jackson Miller who drew an RBI walk, a junior outfielder, Maddox Tepper RBI single, and finally junior outfielder, Max Hydell who ended the inning with a two-RBI double. The Sharks five run inning put PVHS comfortably ahead. In the bottom of the fourth, senior outfielder, Luca Candella legged out an RBI triple and senior catcher, Steele Lickliter drew an RBI walk and PVHS extended their lead to 7-0. Storm Lickliter shoved an impressive complete game outing, going all seven innings allowing five hits, two walks, and shutting out the Barracudas.

Lickliter said, “This game means a lot because it’s a benchmark of what I can do and I am only going to perform better the more games I play so I will be ready if I see them later in the season.” PVHS will host Providence on Mar. 9 in a highly anticipated powerhouse matchup.

SP – Storm Lickliter (7.0 IP, 5 Hits, 0 Runs, 2 BB, 7 K’s)

“This game means a lot because it’s a benchmark of what I can do and I am only going to perform better the more games I play so I will be ready if I see them later in the season.”
Storm lickliter (12)

On Mar. 9, PVHS hosted the Providence School Stallions at Shark Park. The Sharks anticipated Providence as one of the tougher tests on the PVHS schedule in the 2026 season, as the Stallions are known to put together a good team year after year. Junior pitcher, and Davidson College commit, CJ McKenzie was the starting pitcher for the Sharks. Both starting pitchers held the other offense at bay for the first two innings, but in the top of the third McKenzie gave up three runs to the Stallions for the 3-0 lead. Storm Lickliter responded a half inning later with an RBI groundout to chip away at the deficit now 3-1. In the fourth, McKenzie allowed another two runs, and was subsequently relieved by senior pitcher, Max Mracek. Mracek closed the fourth cleanly but gave up two runs in the top of the fifth and the Stallions jumped out at 7-1. Junior pitcher, Max Hakel came in to relieve Mracek in the sixth, but the junior could not withstand the Providence offense and gave up five runs to the Stallions, 12-1 Providence. Storm Lickliter RBI doubled, freshman infielder, Robert Kelly added an RBI sacrifice fly, and senior infielder, Luke Goerge scored on a wild pitch and the Sharks added 3 runs in the sixth. Providence unloaded another three runs on Hakel, so junior pitcher, Patrick Oertli came in to relieve the final batter who he struck out. PVHS found themselves down 15-4 in the final inning, but the Sharks were able to generate on offense despite the deficit. Junior outfielder, Maddox Appleby scored on a wild pitch and junior infielder, Grady Harris drove in two RBIs on a single. PVHS fell to Providence 15-7 as the Sharks pitching could not hang with the Stallion’s offense.

SP – CJ McKenzie (3.2 IP, 3 Hits, 5 Runs, 3 BB, 3 Ks, 2 HBP)

DH – Storm Lickliter (1/3 Hitting, 2 RBI)

On Mar. 10, PVHS baseball ended their week against the Eagle’s View Academy (EVA) Warriors. PVHS was coming off a tough loss against Providence and the Sharks hoped to salvage a winning week against the Warriors. Tepper started on the bump for PVHS and shoved an impressive six innings. EVA started off with a run against Tepper, but the junior pitcher showed some backbone and let that be his only run for the rest of the game. PVHS got it going in the bottom of the third with a Candella two-RBI single, and Candella and junior infielder, Logan Kearney scored on a Warrior’s fielding error as the Sharks took the lead 4-1. The starting pitcher Tepper, found his way to third base on an impressive two-RBI triple by the two-way player, Sharks led 6-1. In the bottom of the sixth, senior infielder, Carter Lang scored on a wild pitch and Kelly scored on an error as the Sharks took advantage of the Warriors poor defense, 8-1. Hydell came in to relieve Tepper in the top of the seventh, and the junior pitcher struck out the side with 3 strikeouts. PVHS bounced back against EVA, 8-1, in a big win which powered PVHS to a 2-1 week.

SP – Maddox Tepper (6.0 IP, 3 Hits, 1 Run, 2 BB, 1 HBP, 10 K’s)

CP – Max Hydell (1.0 IP, 3 K’s)

Pictured: Stuart Streva (11) and Jackson Miller (10) celebrating a win (@fenneysflics)

By: Henry Weitz The Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) baseball team faced the Beachside High School (BHS) Barracudas on Mar. 6.
