Often, seniors regret something or wish they did something more in their years of high school. Some of these things can be grade related, socially related, or overall related to the high school experience a student should have. At Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) the class of 2026 is graduating this upcoming May. Some seniors are extremely happy with their years at PVHS. However, many wish the did something differently. A poll of seniors at PVHS showed that 42 percent of seniors regrets were grade-related, 33 percent based on social relationships, and 24 percent based on experience and time management.

The seniors who had regrets about grades were mostly wishes that they took it more seriously in their freshman and sophomore years. Many said that those first two years brought down their GPA a crucial amount. The students wish that they put in more time and effort overall to their grades because they didn’t realize until later how much it really does come into effect.

High school is a lot of making and breaking relationships with all the new people and different grades together. 33 percent of seniors said that they wish they had approached their social life differently. Many students said they wish they had made different decisions when around friends and distanced themselves from many relationships. Its hard being a teenager making decisions in the social life and many said looking back they wished they chose differently.

High school is busy for students with the workload, having a job, while also trying to manage a social life it becomes a lot to handle. Students who regret their time management were often those who tried to ace every test and have all the community hours possible. Students said they wished they took off work that one day or stayed out late that one night rather than focusing so much on grades.

Overall, high school is a big experience, and students learn so much throughout their journey. Its hard to have the perfect four years of high school and there will always be some regrets. However, it’s a learning experience that helps excel and prepare students for college.

Pictured: Seniors Davitt Doherty, Cole Rosendahl, Nick Clessaurus, Jack Berquist, JP Dolan, Baylor Vu after their graduation

By: Audrey Rosendahl Seniors in high school go through a long four-year journey to graduate and excel into the college life.
