PVHS didn\u2019t win, but they made it a close one taking it to five sets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Sharks started off the first set strong with a score of 25-21. MHS won the next two 25-14 and 29-27. PVHS then fought hard and won the next set 25-23. Now whoever won the next set would win the match, but the Broncos took the win on that set with a score of 15-12. The loss was a true team effort with many outstanding performances. Junior, Vivienne Woodbury led the team in kills and aces totaling 21. Also junior, Brianna Rihlmann contributed with 29 digs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\u201cIt was a tough loss but we\u2019re going to learn from this and win the next one\u201d<\/p>Vivienne woodbury (11)<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n Middleburg improved their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight victory at home dating back to last season. Both teams have away games coming up. PVHS will travel to Nease on Sept. 1, who has only won one match so far this season. Woodbury said, \u201cIt was a tough loss but we\u2019re going to learn from this and win the next one\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite this, the Sharks are still looking strong with the new incoming class and the loss of several graduated players. Avery Webb and Haydin Froelich graduated last year and went on to play college volleyball. Webb now plays at Virginia Tech University, and Froelich plays for the University of North Florida. This year’s class of 2027 already has one commit, Lilly Keeley. Keeley plans to play for Wofford College next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
