Poetry Day is held on the first Thursday of October every year. The day was started in 1994 by entrepreneur, William Sieghart, and is organized by the Forward Prizes for Poetry. Filipino American History month was created in 1992 as a way to celebrate the intertwined history between the Unites States and The Philippines. Although interactions among the two nations had a rocky start, as U.S military occupied The Philippines from 1898-1946, The Philippines still remains the most pro-American nation in the world according to PEW Research Center. This month celebrates the many Filipino-Americans including but not limited to: actress Vanessa Hudgens, comedian Jo Koy, and professional Wrestler turned actor Dave Bautista.
International Coffee Day celebrated the brewed bean beverage that runs the world. According to legend, coffee was discovered by an Ethiopian goat-herder named Kaldi, who noticed that a certain number of goats who ate from a specific tree would not go to sleep at night. Today, 2.25 Billion cups are brewed a day, with 87 percent of Americans saying they drink it on a regular basis, making it second only to water in terms of global consumption.
