Thursday night football in the shark tank. The Ponte Vedra High School Sharks hosted the Leesbrug High School Yellow Jackets. The Sharks came out on fire when senior quarterback, Drew Price found the hands of sophomore wide receiver, Camden Tietze for the first score of the game. The Sharks found themselves ahead early 7-0 but that didn’t stop the Sharks offense as senior running back, Brian Case made the score 13-0 when he broke off a big run finding the end zone. The Sharks then nailed the extra point making it 14-0 going into the second quarter. The Sharks defense was lockdown throughout the entire first half, not allowing a single point. The Sharks offense added to their score when Price ran for a score making the score 21-0 going into halftime.
The game was very stagnant throughout most of the third quarter as the Yellow Jackets only added three to the scoreboard on a field goal, making the score 21-3 going into the fourth quarter. Leesburg would not back down as their offense started to execute. The Yellow Jackets scored a big touchdown making the score 21-10, then their defense made a huge stop giving the Yellow Jackets the ball back with five minutes to go. Leesburg drove down the field scoring late and converting on the 2-point conversation making the score 21-18. The Sharks offense could not convert a first down giving the Yellow Jackets the ball late. The Sharks defense made a huge stop sealing their fourth win of the season improving their record to 4-2. Sophomore cornerback, Trey Butz said, “It was team win, everyone stepped in and did their job.”
