The Ponte Vedra wrestling team performed exceptionally at the Arlington Optimist meet, finishing in first place, and scoring nearly 50 points more than the school in second place, Palatkta. Senior Alex De Almeida places first overall in the 138-weight class. Junior Austin Schottel finished first in the 152-pound weight class, sweeping his other opponents. Junior Joseph Skinner was removed from this meet after suffering a pulled groin, he represented the 160-pound weight class in place of senior Ethan Baur, who was not present. Junior Jarrett Maritto gained a 32-10 record after placing first in the 170-pound weight class. Senior Harlan Nikolov placed second in the 220-pound weight class. The wrestling team will meet most Saturdays, with playoffs occurring late February.
