The Ponte Vedra High School girls volleyball team swept Harvest Community High School last Tuesday, Sept. 27 in a dominating senior night. With scores of 25-7, 25-12, and 25-13, the Sharks easily took care of business. The last regular season home game prompted special attention to this year’s seniors and their families. Four seniors were recognized: Priya Rajhansa, Ava Grace Redick, Jessica Shattles, and Zeta Washington. “I want to thank all the juniors and everyone that helped set up this special night, it was definitely one to remember,” expressed defensive specialist Priya Rajhansa. Priya had eight digs and was crucial in keeping the positive momentum. “The senior night was extra special, more than any other match. I have such a great bond with my teammates, and I’m sad to leave, but I know I am leaving Ponte Vedra volleyball in good hands,” described middle Zeta Washington. Zeta had 17 kills against Harvest and is committed to the University of Cincinnati to play division 1 volleyball. “It’s great to see families and friends come together to share the love for our seniors and getting to see them on the last home game means the world,” stated head coach John Goings. The Sharks face Middleburg High school next Tuesday, Oct. 4 looking to add to the sweep record.
