The Ponte Vedra High School girls lacrosse team started off their regular season with a bang last Friday, Feb. 16, defeating Oak Hall High School, 17-9. The Eagles were no match for the Sharks as Ponte Vedra held full possession of the game, scoring nine goals in the first half, and eight in the second. Sophomore Stella Lynch dominated, scoring four goals and one assist. The lady Sharks are an experienced team this season with nine seniors, four of which are continuing their athletic futures in college: Anna Taraboletti- Vanderbilt University, Ruby Lynch- Jacksonville University, Ava LaManna- Radford University, and Emma Toole- Anderson University. Sophomore Taylor Burke described, “I am so excited for the upcoming season, and I’m blessed to have so many older teammates I look up to,”. The Sharks also became 2-0 this past Saturday, Feb. 18, winning over Hagerty High School, 14-8. Another win granted the Ponte Vedra High School girls lacrosse team the number two team in class 2A according to the Sports4jax weekly rankings. This week the girls face American Heritage High School Tuesday, Feb. 21 and Lake Mary High School Friday, Feb. 24 in the Tank, hoping to secure two more wins to add to their undefeated season.
