As the Ponte Vedra High School’s Girls weightlifting team approaches the end of their 2023-2024 season, there is much talent to be recognized. Senior, Emily Glod has been a part of the team for three years now and has gained much success with the team. Emily maintains a positive attitude no matter the turnout or circumstance of each meet. Emily stated, “I take each meet one at a time. I acknowledge all improvement no matter if its small or big.” The team is full of determined and well-rounded girls who are willing to put in the work to watch their team succeed. Glod sets herself to high standards and ultimately achieved her goals this season. Glod maxed out at a 160-pound clean and jerk with a 140-pound bench and a 120-pound snatch. Junior, Shadvi Gowrisankar made sure to highlight how amazing it feels to be surrounded by such amazing girls. “This season especially I have thoroughly enjoyed going to different team bonding events and hanging out with everyone at practices.” Gowrisankar acknowledges the positive environment she is surrounded by and believes it’s what makes the team so special. The girls always make sure to support and cheer on one another. The team is very grateful for the energy that surrounds them and will continue to upkeep this positive attitude in the following seasons.
