The Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) boys varsity had a big blowout win against the Creekside Knights. The PVHS Sharks advanced to the district finals against the Nease Panthers. The Sharks came off strong scoring four goals in the first quarter and holding the Panthers to only one, making the score 4-1 at the end of the first quarter. As the Sharks entered the second quarter, they came off strong with sophomore, Matthias Schulz scoring an early goal, making the score 5-1. The Sharks the scored another three goals making the score 8-1 at the end of the half.
After halftime a goalie change taking out senior, Jack Pelot and putting in junior, Jackson Hume. The Sharks continued filling the net as the game went on, scoring five more goals in the second half. Although the offense was filling the cage the defense was lacking, giving up two goals in the second half making the score 13-3, to finish the game. As the Sharks progress throughout the playoffs, they will play more and more tough opponents, facing Creekside Knights on Friday, Apr.26. “This team is amazing, and we will continue to face tough opponents but if we play as a team, I think we have a great shot at making it to states,” said sophomore, Carson Gunnell.
The Sharks ended their season to a tough game against Lake Mary in the regional finals. Causing their season to come to an end. The Sharks finished their season being 15-7 and being district champions.
