PVHS Baseball Begins Preseason

The Ponte Vedra boys Baseball team is back in action and started their preseason games with a matchup against the Stanton Preparatory Blue Devils on Feb. 4. The boys walked into Fort Family Field, a neutral location, and absolutely dominated. The boys starting pitcher, senior Aspen McAdoo, pitched a shutout with zero hits and zero runs. The only run scored for the Blue Devils was on junior pitcher, Hunter Alba. The boy’s offense was electric, putting up 19 runs on the Blue Devils. Leading the way with junior outfielder, Luca Candela, with 3 hits and 2 RBI’s and sophomore catcher, Caleb Stanton, with a two-run homerun. The rest of the team pitched into this fantastic win to bring the final score to be 19-1 in favor of the Sharks.

The Sharks returned back to Fort Family Field Feb. 8 to take on the Sandalwood Saints for another preseason matchup. On the bump was junior pitcher, Storm Lickliter who had four innings pitched and allowed zero runs and three hits total. To start the game left fielder, Aspen McAdoo, singled and stole second base. Senior outfield, Ashtan Augusta, said that, “I love the way we have been playing, our offense has been exceptional as well as our defense.” Following that, junior first basemen, James Salvati, singled to center field scoring McAdoo and following that Stanton doubled to left field scoring Salvati. Salvati, senior second basemen, Grady Hartman, McAdoo, Stanton, senior third basemen, Cole Rambler, and Lickliter, all collected a hit for the team with Salvati and Hartman each tallied two runs scored. Sandalwood pitchers didn’t make it hard for the Sharks as they walked a total of 11 players. The final score to the game was 10-0 in favor of the Sharks. The boy’s preseason came to an end and the first game of the year will be against Christ Church Academy on Feb. 10.
