On Apr. 1, the Ponte Vedra High School Sharks baseball team took on the Pedro Menendez Falcons in the first game of the week. Senior right fielder, Aspen McAdoo, singled in the second innings scoring junior first baseman, James Salvati. In the third inning, Salavti grounded into a double play scoring another run. The Falcons answered by adding two more runs equalizing the score at two. The Falcons took the lead in the bottom of the sixth with the score at 5-3. Senior second baseman, Grady Hartman, stole all the way to third and stole home on a wild pitch. It wasn’t enough with the final score being 5-4 in favor of the Falcons.

The Sharks brought their talent back home for a game against the Christ’s Church Academy Eagles, playing their second game this year. The Eagles started the game early in the first inning, but the Sharks retaliated by tallying four runs highlighting sophomore catcher, Caleb Stanton, with a massive two run home run. Hartman hit a double down the left field line scoring another making the score 5-1. The boy’s bats were moving extremely well by tacking 13 hits total. Junior pitcher, Hunter Alba, recorded the win for the Sharks allowing three hits and two runs scored across three innings. The final score of the game was 13-3 in favor of the Sharks. The next day, the boys would return home to play the rival down the street, the Nease High School Panthers, on Apr. 4.
The rivalry game began with a sun delay but that didn’t stop the Sharks domination. The boys got on board early with senior outfielder, Dylan McAdoo, hitting a single scoring one run scoring senior outfielder, Ashtan Augusta. Following that junior starting pitcher, Storm Lickliter, hit a single scoring two runs. The score was 4-0 heading into the second inning. The Sharks defense was lights out highlighting Lickliter allowing two hits and zero runs. In the bottom of the third with Stanton hitting a Home Run into center field scoring two runs. Augusta stated, “There is nothing better than beating your rival! We played great against Nease and deserved the win.” The final score of the game was 6-0 in favor of the Sharks. The boys improve to a record of 12-8 following a 2-1 week.
