Boys Shark Tennis Starts Hot

Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) tennis is back and the Sharks look to start the season strong with a matchup against Clay High School on Feb.4. The Sharks absolutely dominated Clay, leading to a final score of 7-0. The match was highlighted by a clean sweep from top two seeded singles players freshmen Dillon Landau and Davis Miller each sweeping in two sets. Doubles teams Miller with Landau, and two seeded team freshman, Michael Santos-Schramm and sophomore, Hudson Mavec also completed the doubles sweeps for the Sharks each scoring 8-0. Boys tennis was off to a hot start and went 1-0 at Creekside High School on Feb.6.

The second PVHS boys tennis match was against Creekside High School on Feb.6. One seeded Landau started off hot in his first set 6-4, but dropped his second set 4-6 which led Landau into a third set which ended in a Sharks tie break win. Miller also took a win in his match in just two sets with scores of 7-6(7-5) and 6-1. Senior, Christian Miiller was swept in his two sets and senior Connor Vernon won in three sets with a 1-0(10-8) win in his third set to take a point for the Sharks. Junior, John Louzan swept in two sets to make the overall score 4-1. In doubles play, Miller and Landau swept in their match followed by another sweep by Vernon and Santos-Schramm. This added a second win for the Sharks and marked the beginning of their win streak. The Sharks will take a road trip to Camden County in a few short days to continue this tennis dominance.

The Sharks road trip to Camden County marked the PVHS Sharks third matchup of the season on Feb.10. The Sharks started off hot with singles led by a dominant performance by one seed Landau and two seed Miller along with three seed Vernon won in two sets. Doubles play was just as dominant with one both one seeded team Vernon and Santos-Schramm and two seeded John Louzan and junior Joe Louzan sweeping Camden County in two sets. Joe Louzan stated “Great teamwork, great coaching, and everyone stepping up when called upon has been a key to our success”. Boys tennis improves to 3-0 on the year with the Spruce Creek Invitational and their next three matches starting on Feb.17.
