Sharks Girls Soccer Extend Their Win Streak

By Xavier Garay

The Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) Sharks girls’ soccer team are coming off a two-win week against the Bartram Trail High School Bears and the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders. They look to keep the momentum going into next week against the Bishop Kenney Crusaders. On Nov. 18, the Sharks and the Crusaders faced head-to-head in a close matchup. The Sharks ended up pulling through and won the match 2-0 thanks to goals by junior, Grace Raymond, and senior Captain, Lily Morse. Junior goalkeeper, Abby Kennedy, kept the Crusaders scoreless with four saves throughout the entirety of the game. This would bring the Sharks record to a solid 4-0-1 for the season.

“The back line has been great. They’ve been disciplined, winning their 1v1s and keeping things organized in front of me. When everyone is defending together, it makes my job a lot easier, and that’s a big reason we’ve been able to earn those shutouts.”

On Nov. 20, the Sharks faced the St. Johns Country Day Spartans in their second away game of the season. Senior captains, Lily Morse, and Taylor McKeon would lead the Sharks to victory as their two combined goals would secure the win. The Spartans would leave empty handed as Kennedy saved their only shot on goal in this matchup. With the 2-0 win, this would be the Sharks fourth shutout game. This win also extends their win streak to five games in a row, bringing their record to 5-0-1 for the season. Kennedy said, “The back line has been great. They’ve been disciplined, winning their 1v1s and keeping things organized in front of me. When everyone is defending together, it makes my job a lot easier, and that’s a big reason we’ve been able to earn those shutouts.”
