On Nov. 22, the Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) XC Team travelled to Tallahassee to compete in the FHSAA Cross Country State Finals of 2025. The Apalachee Regional Park course was a well kept 5k route that provided a safe and fair setting for the 234 male and 229 female athletes to compete.
“We were honestly really impressed with how well they ran, they really made the team proud.”
Jack Feather (11)
The PVHS boys team saw remarkable performances from senior, Miles Wicks and junior, Luke Ross, who each earned the 6th and 10th place positions respectively. With incredible times of 15:57 and 16:05, both athletes set the pace for the competition and showed respectable sportsmanship to their fellow athletes. Junior, Jack Feather later said, “We were honestly really impressed with how well they ran, they really made the team proud.” It was girls senior athlete, Samantha Gore however who truly blew away the competition with her all-star performance of 18:30, which brought her to a near podium position of 4th place. Wicks, Ross, and Gore have all trained harder than ever this season, and their labor has paid off in full through this tremendous performance.
These three athletes brought an honorable level of maturity and sportsmanship with them to the XC State Finals, and the XC season was concluded with the Shark’s wonderful performance.
