On Dec. 5, Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) football traveled to Lakeland Florida to take on the Dreadnaughts. The Sharks defense started off strong and held the Dreadnaught’s offense. However, the Lakeland defense held the Sharks offense from getting a first down. The Dreadnaughts ran right threw the Sharks defense and scored a touchdown. The PVHS offense was flustered by Lakelands aggressive defense. On the other hand, the Dreadnaughts made a long pass and converted another touchdown. The Sharks offense finally had a good drive and junior kicker, Noah Ash converted a field goal. Lakelands offense had another long pass for another touchdown to end the half with a 21-3 score for the Dreadnaughts. The PVHS defense forced a fumble right away in the second half. Senior quarterback, Cole Rosendahl was rushed in the pocket all game. Rosendahl made many completions but not enough for a first down. The Lakeland offense continued to put points on the board. Rosendahl made a great pass to senior wide receiver, Jack Berquist for a Sharks touchdown. The Shark’s defense was unable to stop the Dreadnaughts offense. The clock was ticking down fast, and the Sharks were running out of time. The Sharks forced a safety and ended the game with a 40-13 score. The PVHS Sharks ended their season 11-3. This was the farthest the Sharks had made it in almost a decade. Rosendahl ended the season with 3137 passing yards which broke the record at PVHS. “I’m going to miss playing with all my best friends,” said Rosendahl. The Sharks had an amazing season, but it had to come to an end.
