Sharks Girls Soccer Finish Strong

By: Xavier Garay

On Feb. 5, the Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) girls soccer team hosted the Saint Augustine High School (SAHS) Yellow Jackets for their first regional game of the season. The Sharks had started the game hot as they would score three goals with one by junior, Katie DeVincentis, and two by junior, Lulu Consunji. The Yellow Jackets couldn’t hang with the Sharks as junior goalkeeper, Abby Kennedy, would save the Yellow Jackets’ only shot on goal. Final score 3-0 in favor of the Sharks. With the win, the Sharks eliminated the Yellow Jackets and will go on to face the Gulf Breeze High School (GBHS) Dolphins on Feb. 11.

“It’s a tough beat, but it doesn’t define our season. We’re proud of what we accomplished and we’ll use this as motivation going into our next season.”

On Feb. 11 the Sharks faced the Dolphins in a nail-biting matchup. The Sharks would put one on the board first with a goal by Consunji. However, the Dolphins didn’t want to go home that easy as they would score a goal themselves. Kennedy would prevent this from happening again as she saved the Dolphins’ next two shots. Senior captain, Lily Morse, would take charge and end this game with a goal to send the Dolphins home. Final score 2-1 Sharks. The Sharks went on to face the Chiles High School Timberwolves in the regional finals on Feb. 17.

On Feb. 17, the Sharks had faced the Timberwolves for a chance to compete for the State Championship. Despite Kennedy’s efforts, saving three of four shots on goal by the Timberwolves, they would eventually score one. The Sharks tried to come back with a total of 19 shots throughout the game but would come up short. Final score 1-0 Timberwolves. This would be the Sharks only loss of the 2025-2026 season. However, with the loss, their playoff contention would ultimately come to an end. DeVincentis said, “It’s a tough beat, but it doesn’t define our season. We’re proud of what we accomplished and we’ll use this as motivation going into our next season.”
