The PVHS girls varsity tennis team won their match on Tuesday, Apr. 9. The Sharks took on Creekside at home. The final score was 6-1.
Line one doubles included junior, Amy Cox and sophomore, Ashley Larger. They won the first set 4-1 then the second set they tied 4-4 and then played a tie break to 8. They won the tie break 8-5 causing them to win both sets, bringing in the first win of the match for the Sharks. Line two doubles included, senior, Madison Schramm-Santos and sophomore, Cait Sheehan who won both sets 4-1 and 4-2. This brought in the second win of the match.
While doubles were playing, sophomore, Rachel Marino won the first set 6-4 and then tied 6-6 in the second set causing a tie break. Marino won the tie break 8-5. This brought in the third win for the Sharks.
The Sharks took a break after their long double matches and getting ready to secure the win with their singles matches.
Line one was junior, Cox who lost both sets, but it was a very close match. In the first set she lost in a tie break by 4. She then lost the second set 2-6. Line two was Larger who had a tough match against a big rival she has had for years but she put it away. She won the first set 6-1 and also won the second 6-1. Line three was Sheehan who won both sets. In the first set, she won 6-1 and won the second set 6-2. Line four was Schramm-Santos who won the first set 6-2 and then won the second set 6-1.
“We too the win on most lines against tough opponents.” Stated Schramm-Santos. “We were incredibly glad to take home this win boosting our confidence, going into preparation for districts next week.”
