Girls Soccer Update

Pre-Break Update

The Ponte Vedra High School girls soccer team picked up some momentum after taking their first loss last week against Bishop Moore, with a big win against Providence. It was an impressive win going to play against an undefeated Providence winning 3-0. Freshman right wing, Lily Morse started another first half with a goal. Going into halftime it was 1-0. Then Ponte Vedra came out firing with a goal from Junior midfielder, Carson Beliakoff. Following that goal, senior outside back, Tatum Townsend had an impressive goal to seal the game. The Sharks shut down defensively, winning the game 3-0. On Friday the Sharks went on to Daytona to play the Seabreeze Sandcrabs. The Sharks put on another shutout, winning 4-0. To kick off the game sophomore midfielder, Sofia Bushkell scored in the first half. Then right before the end of the first half sophomore forward, Jennifer Dearie scored a deep goal to put the Sharks up 2-0 going into halftime. They came out after halftime with some energy along with Jennifer Dearie scoring another goal! The Sharks great defense opened up their offensive game. Junior Carson Beliakoff scored her second goal of the week towards the end of regulation, finishing the game with a Sharks win 4-0.

Match 1

The Ponte Vedra High School girls soccer team lost 1-0 in a competitive game against Bishop Moore. It was a highly intense and defensive game, but Bishop Moore got the edge by scoring a goal in the second half. Ponte Vedra had some good opportunities on offense, however Bishop Moore’s quick defenders caused a very tough matchup for Ponte Vedra. Junior forward, Julia Gregory, claims “It was definitely a rough loss, but we are all looking forward to bounce back and beat Providence next week.” Julia and the team are aware they didn’t play their best, but they are looking to capitalize from this game. The senior captain, Molly Schmachtenberger explains “we definitely did not play at our best, but we will be okay, it’s just one game.” They will be going up against the 1-0 Providence Stallions on Nov. 15 at Providence. The Sharks are looking forward to that game.
