Sharks Baseball Continues Winning Streak

By Rocco Garcia

On Apr. 8, the Ponte Vedra High School Sharks baseball team took on the 15-6 Tocoi Creek High School Toros in a tight showdown. The game started off with the Sharks adding one run when senior first baseman, Cole Rambler, hit a sacrifice fly scoring senior short stop, Jack Brady. The Toros responded in the bottom of the third by knotting the game at one. In the top of the fifth, the Sharks responded when sophomore outfielder, Maddox Tepper, scored junior outfielder, Luca Candella to make the final score of the game 2-1 in favor of the boys. Starting pitcher for the night, CJ McKenzie, earned the win for the Sharks allowing three hits and one run over the five innings pitched. On Apr. 10, the boys took on the 14-9 First Coast Buccaneers. Senior pinch runner, Roshan Patel, stated, “We have been playing very well. I am excited to see how we will play out in the post season.”The game was extremely quiet for both teams until the sixth inning. The Buccaneers hit a double in the bottom of the sixth scoring one and following that, the Buccaneers hit a single and scored another. The final score of the game was 2-0 with the Sharks coming up short once again. On Apr. 11, the Sharks planned to play their senior night game against the Mandarin High School Mustangs. The game was sadly canceled due to inclement weather and the Sharks no longer have a senior night scheduled.

We have been playing very well. I am excited to see how we will play out in the post season.
