The Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) girls’ volleyball team started off their 2025 season strong with three straight wins. PVHS dominated all three games with a 3-0 score against Bolles, Nease, and Ridgeview. The team’s communication, teamwork, and determination leave no doubt that the rest of the season will be just as strong.
On August 19th, the team opened against Bolles. They won all three sets 25-12, 25-21, and 25-15. They went into the first set strong and won fast. In the next set Bolles was determined to come back but PVHS pushed back with strong plays. In the last set, PVHS won again, ending the game with a sweep and a strong start to the season. Vivienne Woodbury, a sophomore, and Ellie Decker, a senior at PVHS, led the team in offense with a total of 19 kills. Decker was named player of the game for her outstanding performance throughout the game.
One week later, PVHS went on the road to Nease and dominated for their second straight win. The Sharks were especially dominant in the second set with the final score being 25-20, 25-6, and 25-20. The team was led to victory with the help of seniors, Haydin Froehlich and Avery Webb. Froehlich hit 100% for seven kills and had four digs. Webb played amazingly with 20 digs and three aces. Sharp serving fueled the win, with 11 total aces for the team. As for Nease, they have lost the last seven games in a row including last season.
The next day, PVHS played Ridgeview and won, making their record 3-0. The final score was 25-12, 25-18, and 25-16 making this their third straight sweep and the strongest win yet not even letting Ridgeview have a chance. Khloe Murray, a sophomore at PVHS, and Ellie Decker led the team on offense with six kills each. The serving was also phenomenal with Vivienne Woodbury and Haydin Froehlich each getting five aces. Overall, their great teamwork and communication led them to this victory and definitely many more throughout the season.
