On Oct. 30, Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) played at Creekside High School for the Sharks last scheduled game before playoffs. Both teams played good defense and limited offensive yards in the first few drives. However, senior quarterback, Cole Rosendahl made a great pass to senior wide receiver, Davitt Doherty for a Sharks touchdown. The Shark’s defense stopped the Knights with a big play from senior safety, Fionn Day who intercepted the Knights pass. The Shark’s offense struggled to get past the Knights defense who recorded a few interceptions. The Shark’s defense made up for it with junior cornerback, Trey Butz who intercepted the Knights pass with great coverage. PVHS offense drove down the field and junior kicker, Noah Ash, kicked a field goal. The Sharks were up 10-0 at halftime. Early into the second half, Rosendahl got sacked and lost the ball. The Knights scooped it up for a touchdown. Rosendahl unfortunately went down the wrong way on his shoulder and did not end up coming back in the game. Junior quarterback, Sam Cote stepped in place of Rosendahl. The Sharks offense did not get a first down for a few drives. The Knights coverage on defense was a challenge for the Sharks to get past. Finally, Cote made a quick pass to Doherty who ran the ball all the way into the PVHS endzone for a Sharks touchdown. To finish the game, sophomore strong safety, Hudson Hauseman had the third interception for the Sharks. “It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win,” said Rosendahl. The final score was 17-7. PVHS secured the win and ended their regular season with an 8-2 record. Doherty had 117 receiving yards which was a career high for him. The Sharks have a bye week and will head into playoffs the following week. PVHS will be hosting the first round of playoffs on Friday Nov. 14 against Niceville High School.
