Sharks Swim Looks to Replicate 2021 Success

By Johnny Inama

The Ponte Vedra high school swim team is going into the 2022-2023 season hungry for success. The girls look to stay consistent following their 2021 3A state championship win, and the boys look towards great improvement in the upcoming season. Some of the upcoming seniors have a large spot to fill taking over for last years seniors. Senior, Ann Wohlgemuth has high expectations being considered a top swimmer on the team, and boys senior team captain, Fabrizzio Lijeron Herrera will look to help carry the boys to a successful year after he was the only boys swimmer to make it to states last year. The captains also intend to have a substantial role on team success this year. “We look to improve the community, this year we are implementing many different team bonding activities to strengthen the team,” said girls captain Sydney Straub, when asked about what essential improvements are being made. The team will start the season with an intrasquad meet on September 3, followed by their first competitive meet on September 8, where they will look to continue their dominance from last season.
