The Ponte Vedra High School girls and boys track and field teams competed at Beachside High School for the Battery Invite competition last weekend and had a very successful weekend.   With districts coming up, the team is working to improve in each event and set new records. The girls team placed second and the boys team placed third. Many new school records as well as personal records were set. Senior, Maya Richards placed third at the meet setting a new personal record of 28.38 competing in javelin. Placing first in the long jump for the girls team with an impressive distance of 5.17 was junior, Adrianne Edwards. These girls will continue to work hard to hopefully win districts for the fourth year in a row. Representing the boys team, senior, Jarrell Jimenez scored a 1.82 in the long jump and placed second place in the 110 hurdles. With the season slowly coming to an end, the teams will both continue to put in the hard work to hopefully come up with both new school and personal records as well as a district win. The Sharks have a solid chance at winning districts as they are three-time district champs just in the last three years.

No matter the outcome the team will push through the rest of the season and support each other through each meet. Senior, Tara Rijsinghani who has been on the girls track team for four years said, “The whole team comes together and stays to support every team member at each meet which makes every win so much more special.” The family aspect is important to the team and supporting each other is their priority. The Sharks have already had a very successful season and will continue to do so.
