The Sharks Cross Country Falls Short at Bartram

By Jake Hilley

On Sep. 28 at Bartram Trail High School, the Ponte Vedra High School Sharks Cross Country team battled in the annual Bale n’ Trail Cross Country Meet. Despite many key leaders from both the girls and boys team taking the week off from racing, the Sharks undoubtedly left their mark with stellar performances all around for their JV Sharks. Freshman sensation Gavin Samples ran an 18:37 5k to lead the boys for the day, and senior Ethan Jensen came close behind with a 19:23 to add points to the team’s total. On the girls side of the trail, junior Charlotte Osol took 32nd overall with a 21:24 5k, and junior, Zoe Epstein finished strong with a 22:29.

“It’s important to keep running. Although I’m not at my best right now, getting better and supporting my teammates is crucial for our team’s morale and success.”

Senior, Ethan Jensen didn’t have his best race as he is fighting minor injuries, but he said, “It’s important to keep running. Although I’m not at my best right now, getting better and supporting my teammates is crucial for our team’s morale and success.” With just a fraction of the team running, the Sharks took 16th and 10th respectively at the Bale n Trail meet, but are looking to bounce back in the future as the home Ponte Vedra meet is just right around the corner.
