Sharks Swim Team Dominates at Regional

The Ponte Vedra Sharks travelled to the regional swim meet on Tuesday, Oct 29. The girl’s team, led by senior captain Penny Zarzcynski won the regional meet in dominant fashion. Zarzcynski won gold in the 50m freestyle, 100m fly, 200m freestyle relay, and the 200m Medley relay. Zarzcynski also set a new school record in the 100m fly with a time of 54.72 seconds. Junior, Lily Doyle won the 500m freestyle with a time of 4:52.32 and came second in the 200m freestyle.

“There’s nothing more I could ask of the team, and I’m proud of how we fought to place in regionals. I can’t wait to see how we do at states.”

The boys team placed third in regionals, led by senior captain Hugh Williams and coach Kyle Berry. Sophomore, Thomas Smith won gold in the 100m backstroke and won silver in the 100m fly. As the team prepares for states on Friday Nov 8, Williams said “There’s nothing more I could ask of the team, and I’m proud of how we fought to place in regionals. I can’t wait to see how we do at states.”
