The Ponte Vedra High School Sharks basketball team took on the St. Augustine High School Yellow Jackets. The game started with some good defense from both teams as the first quarter ended 11-9. The ball was moving down the curt for both teams, but each defense held strong. The score was 21-16 at halftime. The game took a turn in the third quarter, the Sharks defense was like a wall only allowing 4 points. The Sharks slowed down I the fourth but still got the win by a score of 44-33. Junior shooting guard, Ryan Speace scored 11 in the Sharks win.
Bishop Snyder High School Cardinals were the next opponent for the Sharks. The Sharks offense was lights out to start the game, knocking down every shot. They scored 22 points alone in the first. The offense from both teams couldn’t miss they kept on scoring. The score at half was 39-28 favoring the Sharks. It was like it was different teams on the court to start the third quarter. Neither team could get anything moving. Both teams were back to scoring in the fourth, the Sharks got the win. 65-51 was the final. Senior point guard, David Sanchez Barrera scored 18 points.

The Sharks next opponent was the Oakleaf High School Knights. It was a pretty even playing field to start the game with the Sharks getting the upper hand at the end of the first. The defense came in strong starting the second quarter both teams could knock down some shots but no all. At halftime the score was 30-28 favoring the Sharks. The game took a turn for the Sharks as the Knights came out and outplayed them. The Sharks needed a comeback in the fourth to win. They failed to do that, the Knights went on to win 59-56. Junior small forward, Maddox Palmer scored 14 in the Sharks loss. The Sharks record is now 13-8. Junior center, Max Mracek said, “We are looking to get on a roll going into playoffs and start a run.”
