Boys Lacrosse Falls Short in Washington D.C.

By Dylan McAdoo

The Ponte Vedra High School Sharks boys lacrosse took on the Fletcher High School Senators. It was a quick trip up the road to Fletcher for PVHS. The Sharks got going early scoring the first goal of the game, and came back and played good defense. The Senators could barely score on the Sharks senior goalie, Jackson Hume, as he only let up three goals all game. The PVHS boys lacrosse team defeated the Fletcher High School senators by a score of 10-3.

The next two games for the Sharks would take place in Washington D.C. Their first matchup in D.C. was against the undefeated The Heights. The Heights had the Sharks number from the opening whistle, as they grabbed an early lead and never looked back. PVHS couldn’t find much success on offense as they only scored 3 goals all game. They went onto fall to The Heights by a score of 11-3. The following Saturday they took on the Gonzaga High School Eagles.  It was more of the same from the previous game as the offense could never get rolling on offense, and the Sharks defense couldn’t limit the Eagles to enough goals. The Eagles took down the Sharks by a score of 13-6, PVHS went 0-2 during the time in D.C.

The Sharks look to rebound from their previous two losses in Washington D.C. against the St. Augustine High School Yellow Jackets. They did exactly what they looked to do as their offense was firing on all cylinders, scoring 16 goals which was almost double from their previous two games combined. Hume and the defense hopped back on track holding the Yellow Jackets to only two goals all game. The Sharks move to 10-3 on the season. Senior captain, Edward Houston said, “Even though we lost two games in D.C. our team learned what it was like to play hard and together.”
