Girls Soccer Season Nears Final Stretch

The Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) girls’ soccer team hosted the Flemming Island High School (FIHS) Golden Eagles on, Jan. 6 in a matchup where the Sharks defense shined despite giving up two goals. Junior goalkeeper, Abby Kennedy had split the match with freshman goalkeeper, Marin Loftus for a combined six saves, with five coming from Loftus. The Sharks offense came through and secured the win with goals by sophomore, Charlotte Martin, junior, Katie DeVincentis, senior captain, Lily Morse, and two goals from junior, Lulu Consunji. With this, the final score would be 5-2 Sharks. The Bartram Trail High School (BTHS) Bears had gone to face the Sharks that upcoming week.

 “We’re proud of what we’ve done, but districts is where everything resets. We’re coming in focused and hungry, keeping our intensity high, and cleaning up the small mistakes.”

On Jan.14, the Sharks and the Bears faced head-to-head for the Sharks’ last home game of the regular season. Once again, the Sharks defense wouldn’t shy as Kennedy would save five of the six shots made by the Bears. The Sharks offense would clap back with goals by juniors, Consunji, DeVincentis, and senior, Morse. Final score 3-1 in favor of the Sharks. With their final game of the regular season, the Sharks went prepared for their first district match of the 2025-2026 season on Jan. 22, against the Englewood High School Rams. DeVincentis said, “We’re proud of what we’ve done, but districts is where everything resets. We’re coming in focused and hungry, keeping our intensity high, and cleaning up the small mistakes. We trust our coaches to help guide us through, and if we stay disciplined and play for each other, we’re confident we can keep the momentum going.”
