Boys Golf Dominates Regional Tournament

By Brian Parrish

With their victory in the regional championship on Monday, the Ponte Vedra High School boys golf team is knocking on the door of another state title. With only one more hurdle in the way of the team reaching their season’s goal, they’re holding off on celebrating until they are once state champions.

In Monday’s tournament victory, the Sharks showed everyone why they are the defending champions. The Sharks were victorious in a dominant performance, winning by 15 strokes. Florida State University commit, junior Carson Brewer, won the individual, and led the Sharks to victory, shooting 5 under par, and ending with 67. Another notable performance came from Brock Blais, who shot 69 on the day. Despite the excellent performance, Senior captain Jack Barned summed up the team’s thoughts, stating “We aren’t done yet. We can celebrate once we win states.”

“There’s no excuse for anything but a win.”
-Jack Barned

The team is preparing for their next challenge, the state championships, which are starting on November 15th. They expect the biggest competition to come from Spanish River and Lake Mary. They are confident in a win, with senior captain Jack Barned going as far as to say, “There’s no excuse for anything but a win.” The Sharks are heading into the state championship with a win at all costs mentality, and are hoping to end the season with a bang.
