Boys Basketball Preview

By Kennedy Rosendahl

Boys’ basketball at Ponte Vedra High School is about to start. Last year, the PVHS team lost nine seniors, including their starting point guard, Alex Madson. With only six returning players, there is a new dynamic for the upcoming team.

New additions to the varsity team are seven juniors, Ben Ritchie, Cooper Gibbs, Ty Clarke, Greg Constain, Kyle Mobley, Jack Gore, and Trooper Price. There is also one sophomore added to the team, Sam Ritchie. Also, coming from Bishop Kenny High School is Ross Candelino, a senior transfer. He had a total of 396 points at BKHS, averaging 7.6 points per game. He has a three-point percentage of 36 percent and a free-throw percentage of 85 percent. PVHS is looking forward to adding his skills to the team this year.

Returning at head coach is coach Kevin Whirty. This is his third year at head coach of the varsity team at PVHS. Their first preseason game is this Friday, against Potters House. The game is away. Their first home game is December third against Nease High School. The sharks have been practicing for months to prepare for a great season.
