Girls Golf Continues Winning Streak

The Ponte Vedra High School girls golf Team has had an incredible season so far, most recently winning the district and regional championships. Throughout regionals, the girls all played well, each breaking 80 and placing in the top twelve of regional qualifiers. Individually, junior Nancy Cox shot an impressive 67, which was four under par, winning her the tite of Individual Regional Champion. “It felt great winning regionals individually,” said Nancy. “I’ve played the best I can this season and I’m glad I did it when it mattered. I’m even more proud of my team for pulling together a team win. We all played great and I’m hoping we can do the same thing at state. My skill level and mindset have changed a lot from last year and I have become a better player, especially mentally. At state, I’m aiming to win individually and as a team, but regardless I’ll play the best golf I can and leave it up to the others to make it happen.”

The state championship tournament will be played at the Mission Inn Resort and Club, outside of Orlando, on Monday the 14th of November through Wednesday the 16th. Monday will be a practice round where the girls are able to play all 18 holes and get a feel for the conditions.
