Girls Basketball November Update

   The girls’ basketball team starts off the season 3-1 after losing to Orange Park in their season opener and coming up just three points short, the Sharks have gone on an impressive three game win streak. The Sharks had a very impressive two-point win in overtime vs Valor Christian. The Ponte Vedra Sharks are led by three juniors, Morgan Gavazzi, Kennedy Rosendahl, and Maya Richards. Gavazzi being PV’s leading scorer averaging 19 points a game and our second leading scorer being Rosendahl averaging 13.8 and also being seventh in the state for made three pointers.

   The Sharks started off horrendous in their season opener but ended crawling their way back into the game in the second half lead by some Gavazzi threes. Rosendahl also added 12 points to the loss against Raiders, the Sharks moved to 0-1 and also 0-1 in the distract.

   The Sharks picked up their first win of the season against Creekside High School. Kennedy Rosendahl put up a season high 24 points while also shooting 75 percent from three. Gavazzi trailed behind with 18 points adding a couple threes herself. The most impressive win for the Sharks was an overtime thriller against Valor Christian. Morgan Gavazzi lead the team with 19 points and hit a clutch three to bring the game into overtime. She also hit the game winning free throws after Rosendahl’s steal at the end. Rosendahl also had a huge three coming off of `a screen in overtime. Junior, Taylor Perce also was a presence in the paint grabbing boards on offense and defense and also adding seven points to the win.

   The Sharks cruised by Valdosta with Gavazzi having an amazing 21 points to lead the Sharks, Gavazzi had 4 threes to add to the Sharks huge win and Richards added her season high 13 points to the mix. Richards had all her points inside the arc.
