The Sharks Begin to Turn Around Their Season

   The Ponte Vedra High School Sharks baseball team hosted the 14-2 Tocoi Creek Toros in effort to break the Toros 13 game win streak. The Toros started out swinging with two funs scored in the top of the second, third, and fourth. The Sharks got one run in with senior outfielder, Cade Eidam, scoring on an error. The final score was 6-1 but the same week the Sharks host the 8-11 Pedro Menendez High School Falcons.

   The Falcons started out early scoring one run in the top of the first, the game was quiet for a few innings until the Sharks scored three runs in the bottom of the third. Junior third basemen, Cole Rambler, hit a sacrifice flyball scoring junior catcher, Austin O’Hara. O’Hara stated, “Our defense was excellent and so was our pitching, our hitting has improved a lot.” Senior outfielder, Parker Gunnell, singled and scored senior designated hitter, Matt Hoag, making the score 2-1. With the bases loaded, senior first basemen, Jack Flood, was hit by a pitcher and scored Eidam. The Sharks added on to their domination and scored two more runs in the bottom of the fourth with Eidam hitting an inside the park homerun scoring Hoag and making the final score 5-1. Junior pitcher, Carson Evanger, pitched all seven innings and allowing one run for the night.

  On Apr. 12, the Sharks traveled to a neutral location to play the Beachside Barracudas. The sophomore starting pitcher for the night, Storm Lickliter, played lights out and so did the Sharks defense and allowed zero runs for the night. In the top of the fifth, senior first basemen, Nate Wicker, grounded out and scored Eidam to go up 1-0. Following that in the top of the sixth, O’Hara grounded out and scored Rambler to win the game 2-0.
