The Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) girls’ soccer team are coming off a hot streak of five wins in a row. They look to carry the streak against the Niceville High School Eagles on Dec. 2.
The Sharks faced the Eagles on Dec. 2, in a non-conference match. The Eagles would end the half with a 1-0 lead on the Sharks. However, the Sharks senior captain, Lily Morse, would score a hat-trick making the final score 3-1 for the Sharks. With this win, the Sharks would end the Eagles five game win streak, extending their own to six wins in a row. The Sharks improved their record to 6-0-1 for their season. Lily Morse said, “It was a great team experience. Being down 1-0 at half really made us dig deep. I just focused in, and the team steeped up to give us a win.” PVHS looks to keep their momentum going into next game as they face the Creekside High School Knights on Dec.11 and the Lake Mary High School Rams on Dec.12.
On Dec. 11, the PVHS Sharks faced the Creekside High School Knights in a nail biting away game. The Sharks and the Knights would go scoreless into the second half. However, freshman, Maddison Brletich, would go on to score the only goal of the match. PVHS won the game 1-0, bringing the Sharks season to 7-0-1. The Sharks look to keep the fire lit against the Lake Mary Rams the next day. On Dec.12, the Sharks faced the Rams in another close matchup. The Sharks would concede a goal to the Rams but then score one themselves thanks to an assist from sophomore, Chloe Chandler, to junior, Grace Raymond. Junior, Abby Kenndy, would make a clutch save to keep the score tied 1-1. With this tie, the Sharks win streak would sadly end, bringing their record for the season to 7-0-2.
The Sharks look to beat the Stanton High School Blue Devils on senior night, Dec.15, and the Fletcher High School Senators on Dec. 18.
