Sharks Softball Opening Week

The Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) Sharks softball team kicked off their 2025-2026 season on Feb. 9, against the Fletcher High School (FHS) Senators. Sharks junior left fielder, Taylor Scribner, led the Sharks with three hits, followed by senior pitcher, Aoife Weaver, junior third basemen, Natasha Deutch, and sophomore second basemen, Mia Fitzpatrick, with two hits each. Senior shortstop, Nadia Campbell and juniors, Addison Siebenaler and Emma Henson each with one hit. The Sharks would record seven RBI’s with two coming from Weaver and Campbell and one from Deutch, Siebenaler, and junior right fielder, Abby shin. Weaver would go all the way and face 25 batters in six innings with 87 pitches thrown, six hits allowed, two earned runs, one walk, and six strikeouts. Final score, 9-2, in favor of the Sharks. PVHS started the new season off with 1-0 record. The Sharks will face the Paxon School For Advanced Studies (PSAS) Golden Eagles on Feb. 12.

On Feb. 12, the Sharks faced the Golden Eagles at PVHS. Weaver, Siebenaler, Fitzpatrick, senior catcher, Emma Shin, and junior first basemen, Camryn Straub, would record one hit each for a combined total of five for the game. However, Deutch and Straub would record two RBI’s followed by Henson and Siebenaler scoring one each. Scribner would start the game and faced 19 batters with 66 pitches thrown, three hits allowed, three runs allowed but zero earned runs allowed, one walk, and one strikeout in a total of four innings. Weaver would close the game with 14 batters faced, 47 pitches thrown, one hit allowed, zero runs, three walks, and three strikeouts in a total of three innings. Final score, 9-3, Sharks. With the win, the Sharks improve to 2-0 for the season. The Sharks will face the Saint Augustine High School (SAHS) Yellow Jackets on Feb. 17.

On. Feb 17, the Sharks faced the Yellow Jackets with a familiar final score. Weaver would lead the Shark with three hits followed by Straub with two hits and finally Abby Shin and Siebenaler with one each. Straub and Abby Shin would both record two rbi’s followed by Scribner and Weaver with one each. Scribner would start the game and faced 20 batters with 83 pitches thrown, three hits allowed, one earned run, two walks, and three strikeouts in four innings. Weaver would secure the win, facing 14 batters and 46 pitches thrown, three hits allowed, three runs, and one strikeout in three innings. Final score, 9-4, in favor of the Sharks. With that win, the Sharks would be on a three game win streak, and look to continue the momentum against the Matanzas High School Pirates on Feb. 19. Emma Shin said, “It (the season) looks very positive. We’re on a high right now and I hope we can stay on that train for the rest of the season.”
