Sharks Comeback After Loss

On Mar. 27, the Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) Sharks faced the Ridgeview High School (RHS) Panthers. Sharks freshman designated hitter, Charlotte Rogers, and senior pitcher, Aoife Weaver, led the game with three hits each, followed by senior shortstop, Nadia Campbell, senior left fielder, Taylor Scribner, junior center fielder, Addison Siebenaler, junior third baseman, Natasha Deutch with two hits and lastly, sophomore second baseman, Mia Fitzpatrick, and senior catcher, Emma Shin, both with one hit. Campbell and Deutch recorded the most RBI’s with three each, followed by Siebenaler with two, and lastly Scribner, Fitzpatrick, and Rogers each recording one for the game. Weaver started and finished the game in four innings, facing a total of 16 batters with 53 pitches thrown, three hits allowed, no runs allowed, and one strikeout. Sharks blow the Panthers out of the water with a 16-0 win. The Sharks looked to carry their momentum into their next home game against the Clay High School (CHS) Blue Devils on Mar. 30.

On Mar. 30, the Sharks faced the Blue Devils hoping to get a hot streak going, and that they did. Siebenaler, Weaver, and Deutch led the Sharks with two hits each, followed by Scribner, Fitzpatrick, Emma Shin, and junior right fielder, Abby Shin, each with one hit. Scribner recorded three RBI’s followed by Siebenaler and Weaver with two RBI’s each, and lastly Deutch and Fitzpatrick recorded one RBI each. Weaver started on the mound for the Sharks and faced 17 batters with 57 pitches thrown, two hits allowed one earned run allowed, and five strikeouts in five innings. Scribner came into the game and faced eight batters with 27 pitches thrown, zero hits allowed, zero runs allowed, three walks, and zero strikeouts in two innings. Final score, 9-1, PVHS wins. The Sharks look to continue their win streak against the Tocoi Creek High School (TCHS) Toros on Apr. 1.

On Apr. 1, the Sharks faced the Toros in a game that wouldn’t end up the way the Sharks had planned. Abby Shin had led the Sharks with two hits, followed by Scribner and Campbell with one hit each. The Toros out scored the Sharks 6-0 had 12 hits to the Sharks four. Weaver started the game, facing 18 batters with 46 pitches thrown, six hits allowed, two earned runs, and one strikeout in four innings. Scribner came in and faced 10 batters with 32 pitches thrown, five hits allowed, four earned runs, and one walk in one inning. Freshman pitcher, Presley Pasey, came in for relief, facing four batters with 15 pitches thrown, one hit allowed, one walk, and one strikeout in one inning. Final score, 0-6, as the Sharks fell to the Toros. The Sharks looked to get back on their feet against the Creekside High School (CHS) Knights on Apr. 2. Deutch said, “We just have to come back together as a team and know that we’re good enough to go out and beat them”
