Student Spotlight- Grace Theiler

By Jasmine Pacheco

Sophomore Grace Theiler loves to play volleyball. A hard-working student with big plans, she started playing volleyball at the young age of ten, when she realized her interest in the sport. She has continued to play ever since and has never looked back.

Volleyball at times can be an exceedingly difficult and time-consuming sport, however, it also brings a lot of entertainment and positive energy to a person. Grace stated, “It is definitely a hard sport, and it requires a lot of effort. But that is what makes it fun! Playing with good teammates makes it worthwhile, and you get to share that happiness with others when you perform well in games.”

While many students find playing sports and joining clubs as well as studying for school as difficult to juggle all at once, Grace has found a way to do all three in an easy manner. She uses time management skills and her positive energy to do so. Grace commented, “I don’t do any other sports, but I do run and work out daily. I am vice president of a club called safe pets. I am also in the club National Chinese Honors Society, Distributive Education Clubs of America, Future Business Leaders of America, and the National Honors Society. Even though it may seem like a lot to do in a week I somehow manage.”

Nutrition is particularly important because what you eat can affect your ability to play

Many sports, including volleyball, can end up creating small or even substantial changes to a person’s daily life. Nutrition can be considered as something that plays a significant role when it comes to having energy and staying fit as Grace continues to play throughout the years. Grace remarked, “Nutrition is particularly important because what you eat can affect your ability to play. Eating substantial amounts of proteins, fruits and vegetables can make you not only leaner, but faster and healthier.”

Once Grace completes her years attending Ponte Vedra High School, she is planning to continue her efforts in the sport and take it to the next level while in college.
