Girls Soccer crushes Bucholz

By Sasha Crowe

The Ponte Vedra High School girls soccer team crushed Buchholz High School last Friday by a score of 5-1. It was ‘senior night’ for the Sharks, so the star seniors shined and accomplished a huge victory for the team. There were six seniors recognized which included Maggie Mace, Abbey Mulhall, Victoria Villasana, Tamlyn Parkes, Rylie Cornwell, and Riley Collett. They were presented with flowers and speeches to commemorate their achievements throughout their high school careers. “Senior night meant a lot not only to me but to all the seniors. It felt so special to play with my teammates and I will always remember that night,” exclaimed senior Right Forward, Tamlyn Parkes. Tamlyn is committed to continuing her soccer career at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina. Senior Outside Back, Abbey Mulhall described ‘senior night’ as “A really fun night to celebrate with families and our team, and it was fun to look back on memories.” Abbey’s favorite memory this season so far was the team weekend trip to Monteverde for a showcase.

Senior Center-back, Victoria Villasana stated, “We played really well and made sure to stay composed and capitalize on all our chances.” The lady Sharks did just that by controlling the ball and keeping possession to score five goals on the Buchholz Bobcats, with Victoria scoring one of them. The Sharks face the Stanton High School Blue Devils this upcoming Thursday, hoping to secure another win.
