Senior middle blocker, Chelsea Sutton led the team with 15 kills and three blocks. “My end goal for the team this year is for us to make it as far as possible into playoffs and hopefully have a run at states,” described Chelsea Sutton. Also notable in this match was sophomore Leah Grall with 11 kills. Leah Grall is a young yet dynamic player for the Sharks and made great contributions to the district semifinal win.
On Thursday, Oct. 19, the Sharks won their 13 consecutive district championship. The girls defeated Fleming Island High School 3-1, with scores of 25-21, 25-19, 23-25, and 28-26. Each point was a nail-biter as both teams were evenly matched. A hard-fought win for the Sharks earned them another district championship trophy. A crucial leader of this game was junior, Avery Meide. Meide leads the team in serving aces with a total of 29 this season. The Sharks exit the regular season with a record of 13-13, with hopes of a state ring. PVHS moves on to face Leon High School on Wednesday, Oct. 25 for the regional quarterfinal match in the FSHAA state tournament.
