The Sharks Begin to Turn Things Around

The Sharks started the week playing the Bolles Bulldogs on Apr. 16. The game was very quiet for the Sharks, the Bulldogs started off with one run in the top of the first. The Bulldogs added one more run in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth to bring the final score to 5-0.

   The Sharks hosted the Middleburg Broncos on Apr. 18 in effort to turn the week around. The game was very quiet for the first part of the game until the Sharks added four runs in the bottom of the third. The senior outfielder, Parker Gunnell, hit a solo shot home run and following that, senior first baseman, Matt Hoag, singled and scored junior third basemen, Cole Rambler. Then the junior second basemen, Grady Hartman, singled and scored Hoag. Following that, senior outfielder, Niko Rohloff, grounded out and scored junior outfielder, Austin O’Hara. The Sharks continued their domination and added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth, two in the bottom of the fifth, and one in the sixth, to bring the final score to 10-0. The starting sophomore pitcher for the night, Storm Lickliter, pitched a shutout and the Sharks showed incredible defense.

  The Sharks traveled to Orange Park on Apr. 19 to play the Raiders. The Sharks started off hot with four runs scored in the top of the first, Gunnell and senior outfielder, Cade Eidam, driving in a majority of the runs. In the top of the third, Rambler hit a opposite field shot homerun added one. In the top of the fourth, junior shortstop, Jack Brady, hit one off the wall and scored freshmen catcher, Caleb Stanton. Following that, two more runs were scored due to wild pitches. The Raiders added two more in the bottom of the fourth and senior designated hitter, Sam Evans, scored Eidam. In the top of the sixth, junior infielder, Dylan McAdoo, hit a solo shot homerun and following that two more runs were scored. Brady stated, “We played amazing, out bats were moving well and our defense was great.” The Sharks showed a season high of runs scored with the final score being 12-4.
