The Sharks End Hot Right Before Playoffs

The Sharks faced the Fernandina Beach Pirates on Apr. 23 in a game that was rained out and was originally set for Mar. 5. The Sharks started out early with one run scored in the bottom of the first with senior outfielder, Cade Eidam, scoring junior third basemen, Cole Rambler. The Sharks added one more in the bottom of the third with junior outfielder, Austin O’Hara, singled and scored senior outfielder, Parker Gunnell. The Pirates took the lead in the top of the fourth by adding four more runs making the score 4-2. The Sharks then struck back and added five in the bottom of the fourth courtesy of Gunnell, O’Hara, and senior designate hitter, Matt Hoag. The pirates added two more in the top of the fifth and the sharks finished their domination by added four in the bottom of the sixth. The final score for the game was 11-6 in a total domination by the Sharks.

   The Sharks then traveled to West Nassau on Apr. 25 to play the Warriors. The Sharks began the game in the top of the second with two runs scored. Junior second basemen, Grady Hartman, singled and scored Eidam. Following that, junior outfielder, Ashtan Augusta, grounded out and scored senior outfielder, Sam Evans. The Sharks added another run in the top of the third with Evans grounding out and scoring Rambler. “The team is starting to come together just before playoffs, I expect a deep run after districts,” stated Hartman. The Warriors added two more in the bottom of the fourth and the Sharks responded with one more run in the top of the fifth. Gunnell scored on bad throw by the pitcher to bring the score to 4-2. The Sharks wanted to close the game out and they added one more in the top of the seventh with Eidam hitting a sacrifice flyball and scored Rambler. The Warriors didn’t want to give up without a fight and added two in the bottom of the seventh to bring the final score to 5-4 in favor of the Sharks. The Sharks concluded the week 2-0 this week and prolonged their four-game win streak going into district play.
