The Ponte Vedra boys soccer team took on the Fletcher Senators’ on Jan. 17 for the final game of the year. The Sharks began the game quite slow for the first half. Senior strikers, Thomas Arndt and Stanley Bishop had plenty of shots at goal but were shot down by the Senators’ elite goalie who didn’t have any plan of letting anything go by him. The defense on both sides was on point, forcing the score to be 0-0 at halftime. Matt Brown, senior defense stated, “We finished strong, I am happy where we ended this year.” The Sharks came out of the half with a more offensive approach but didn’t work out for a while. But in the 80th minute, Ardnt scored with an assist from junior right back, Samuel Camacho.

The game ended with the final score 1-0 and the boys were ecstatic with achieving a 12-2 record and having the number one seed in the FSHAA playoffs. The boys plan to play either St. Augustine or Ed White High School on Jan. 28 with hopes of prolonging their season.
